‘Pigtail’ Swing Screws / Pigtail Eye Screws are a form of bent loop where the ends are not closed, the head is bent into a helix so that it does not fully close on itself but can continue past 360 degrees, but multiple turns are used to prevent a rope slipping out. They allow the middle of a rope to be threaded into the loop, even if its ends are already attached elsewhere.

Generally supplied in stainless steel, these screws provide adequate corrosion and oxidation resistance but can tarnish if used extensively. These screw can be finished in a number of anti-corrosive finishes, or even in a different material altogether.

The pigtail eye screw is generally fully threaded so that the head sits flush in whatever surface it is installed in, however, the thread can be partially threaded to slightly separate the bolt from the surface.
